KCA purchases lakefront property from Green First

The former Kenora Forest Products land in Norman has sold for $5 million.

The Kenora Chiefs Advisory purchased the 118-acre parcel from Green First Forest Products.

Executive director of KCA Jennifer Dreaver says it’s too soon to say if more soil remediation has to be done on the property.

“That’s not been quite determined yet,” Dreave said during a press conference Wednesday to announce the purchase.

“What we’re doing is exploring previous work that’s been done to explore the state of the site and then make a determination on what we’re going to need in order to move forward.”

Dreaver adds that negotiations for the property wrapped up in December.

“We normally take several months to negotiate, and that was the case in this regard. We actually found that Green First was terrific to work with and had an incredible sense of vision and understanding of importance of this property.”

The property will be the home of the new All-Nations Hospital and a 160-bed long term care facility operated by Wiigwas.
