Drug and firearm charges laid in Deer Lake

Two Kitchener area men face drug and firearm charges following an arrest on the Deer Lake First Nation.

The Nishinawbe Aski Police began the investigation last Thursday when they were told two men were dealing drugs from a white pick-up truck.

Police located the pick-up, and a search of the vehicle uncovered two shot guns, some cocaine, cash and drug trafficking paraphrenia.

They face several charges including trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

One man also faces two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The suspects have been remanded into custody pending future court dates.

Deer Lake is about 320 kilometers north of Kenora.
