NWHU warns of increased respiratory illness in the region

The Northwestern Health Unit says there’s been an increase in respiratory illnesses in the region.

That includes influenza.

As a result there has been an increase in outbreaks and emergency room visits.

The Health Unit encourages local residents to take precautions, especially if they are sick.

That includes getting vaccinated against the flu or COVID, masking up, practicing good hygiene, and staying home if you are ill.

Many of the hospitals in the region already have mask mandates in place.

Instead of going to the ER first, the Health Unit suggests using the Northwest Region Virtual Care Clinic for medical assistance.
