Kenora council is getting ready to ratify a contract with the city’s CUPE workers.
An agreement was reached last month.
Director of Human Resources Roberta Marsh says the initial agreement covers to the end of this year.
“Two years…the first year being a 3.5 percent increase and the second year being a 3 percent increase,” Marsh told council at its Committee of the Whole meeting Tuesday.
“The 2024 budget and the 2025 budgets did contemplate labour negotiations.”
Marsh says a number of items in the previous agreement will continue on into the new deal.
“(The contract) is really meant to be more of a rollover, and this aligned with the union’s desire to maintain the status quo and continue joint job evaluation.”
The deal, representing workers with CUPE 191, is retroactive to January of 2024.
Council will vote to ratify the contract at their next open meeting on Tuesday, April 15th.
