NAFN hockey tournament begins tonight

The North American Tournament of Champions begins tonight in Kenora.

16 teams are signed up to play in the Open Division, eight in the Oldtimers category and six in women’s hockey.

Organizers say they had more teams that wanted to play than they had spaces that were available.

Games are being played in both Kenora and Keewatin.

The finals will take place in all three divisions on Sunday afternoon and the championship game in the Open Division will take place Sunday night at 7:30 pm at the Moncrief Construction Sports Center.

The first prize money in the Open Division is $25,000, and $5,000 in the Oldtimers and $5,000 for the winner of the women’s division.
