KDSB lobbies to keep the Temporary Foreign Worker Program

Another call to keep the Temporary Foreign Worker program, at least in northwestern Ontario.

Chief Executive Officer of the Kenora District Services Board, Henry Wall say the loss of the program will definitely hurt them.

“Just at the KDBS we have 32 individuals, 32 families, that are set to lose their jobs and have to leave,” Wall told Kenora city council last week.

“It will impact childcare programs here in the community in a very big way. So, that’s just KDSB.”

Wall adds that the loss of the program affects all municipalities in northwestern Ontario.

“I think it’s really important as the nine municipalities and the KDSB and I think others, say this is really important program for our communities, for the service industry, for childcare, for social services and the list goes on and on. We do need to have a federal government that does make exceptions.”

In Dryden, councillor Ritch Noel says the loss of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program will also have a big impact on restaurants in the community.
