A section of Ninth Street North will be closed for much of the summer.

Starting today there will be construction in the area between Mellick Avenue and Main Street Rideout.

The city says underground infrastructure like sewer and water and road improvements are going to be made.

The work is expected to last until October.

A detour route has been set out from Rupert Road to 10th Street North and to Main Street Rideout.

Back lanes will also be open but will be for local traffic only.

A second closure on 9th Street North will also take place this week.

That section of road will be closed altogether from 7 am till 7 pm Monday to Friday until early September for the replacement storm sewer infrastructure and resurfacing the road.

Also, the section of 1st Street South will be closed to traffic from Chipman Street to the roundabout on Tuesday for construction

The closure will last from 7 am until 6 pm.
