Noel seeks court review of council ban

The on-going saga of Dryden city councillor Ritch Noel has taken another twist.

In a release, Noel’s lawyer says they will ask a court to review his ban from attending city council meeting or other city events.

Noel argues that council has no legal authority to do so.

In the last two council meetings, Noel has been asked to leave but insisted on attending in person.

Because of the ban, he has been unable to vote on any by-laws or resolutions.

He suggests it denies him his Charter rights, including freedom of expression and his right to liberty.

Noel adds the ban also disrespects anyone who voted for him.

In the release, Noel states he will run in the next municipal election for mayor against incumbent Jack Harrison.
