The Kenora detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) carried out an initiative last week to “target open use and possession of controlled substances and other criminal behaviour.”
Between Tuesday September 1 and Wednesday September 2, the local OPP, with assistance from other nearby detachments, arrested and charged 14 individuals primarily with the crime of possessing schedule 1 substances, including cocaine, heroin, opioids, and methamphetamines.
Three individuals are also facing an additional charge for failing to comply with release orders.
All accused 14 individuals were residents of Kenora between the ages of 21 and 44.
Several individuals already have court dates scheduled with the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora in December, though one is scheduled to face the court in October.
