24th annual Ride for Memories returns this August

The 24th annual Ride for Memories is coming up on Aug. 15.

The event is a “powerful and heartfelt motorcycle ride through Northwestern Ontario, bringing together riders, families, and community members united in the fight against dementia,” according to the Alzheimer Society’s Ride for Memories event page.

The route changes slightly every year, and this year’s host city is Fort Frances. For the first time last year, organizers opened the floor to vintage cars and the Corvette Club. Ride committee chair Dave Canfield is hoping they’ll be back this year.

This year, the goal is to raise $50,000, which goes directly to communities to fund local programs and services that support individuals living with dementia, their families, and care partners.

Canfield says riders should register for the event ahead of time. For those planning to stay overnight in Fort Frances, the committee has blocked rooms at a fixed rate, but any unbooked spaces will be released in July.

Updated release dates:
  • Studio 6: July 15 ($219 + tax)
  • Super 8: July 25 ($175 + tax)
  • La Place Rendez-Vous: July 25 ($159 + tax)
  • Copper River Inn: July 31 ($159 + tax)
