Lakelife Playspace ready to open

Kenora’s newest play area is set to open.

It’s located in the upper level of the Kenora Sportsplex.

Heather Pihulak is one of the volunteers and says they have something for kids of all ages.

“The toddler and up, up to 10 years old, is a fully enclosed indoor play structure,” explain Pihulak.

“It includes a rock climbing wall, just a small one, and then a basketball area as well.”

Pihulak adds this has been a year in the making with the equipment ordered with other city playground structures last spring.

“There’s an area for toddlers and up and then there’s a restricted area, which is a kind of a segregated area for the infants, so 0 to 2 is what we try to keep focused on in that area. So it has smaller play structure things for those kids.”

Pihulak says they saved about 24 percent on the equipment ordering through the city, but it did take longer to get it here.

The grand opening of the Lakelife Playspace is Tuesday at 5 pm.
