Another First Nation in northwestern Ontario is joining forces with the Land Defense Alliance.
The Ojibways of Onigaming participated in a meeting held in Winnipeg earlier this week.
The Alliance was formed to lobby against mining exploration on or near their communities.
The leaders of the First Nations are also concerned about the number of suicides and unnecessary deaths in their communities.
The chief of Grassy Narrows Rudy Turtle adds an emergency declaration was issued two weeks ago and have yet to hear from the Ontario or Canadian governments.
Originally the group consisted of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI, or Big Trout Lake First Nation), Wapekeka, Neskantaga, and Asubpeeschoseewagong Anishinabek (Grassy Narrows).
The First Nation leaders complain that the Ontario and Federal governments have been non-existent as they face these crises both in and outside their communities.
