Canadian film director, Norman Jewison dead at 97

Canadian-born director, Norman Jewison has died at age 97.

He directed and produced over 40 films and TV shows during his career, including In the Heat of the Night, Moonstruck and Fiddler on the Roof.

He also co-wrote the screenplay for Jesus Christ Superstar.

Jewison’s common themes were racism and injustice.

His films received 46 Academy Award nominations and won 12 Oscars.

In 1999, Jewison received an Academy Award for lifetime achievement.
