Increase in outflow at the Norman Dam

Despite a lack of precipitation in recent weeks, Lake of the Woods Control Board has increased outflow at the Norman Dam.

The hike in outflow follows work that was done at the Kenora Powerhouse.

As a result, water levels below the dam on the Winnipeg River are expected to fluctuate about four centimeters and two centimeters at the Dalles.

Over the next week, water levels on Lake of the Woods are expected to drop anywhere between two and three centimeters because of the increase at the dam.

In the last seven days it only went down one centimeter.

So far this month, the Kenora area has only recorded just over 8 centimeters of snow.

We usually get about 28 centimeters during the whole month of January.
