Police arrest two more youth in arson in Eabametoong

The Nishnawbe Aski Police say four youth have now been charged in connection to a fire that destroyed the school on the Eabamentoong (Fort Hope) First Nation last Thursday morning.

One is a 13 year old girl, and the other three are males aged 13, 14 and 17.

They each face a charge of arson (disregard for human life), arson (damage to property), mischief over $5,000 and possession of incendiary material.

The 17 year old has also been charged with possessing break-in instruments and assaulting a peace officer.

There are being held in custody pending a court appearance on Tuesday.

Because of their ages, they cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The fire was reported around 7:10 am on January 25th.
