2 outflow decreases scheduled for the Norman Dam

The Lake of the Woods Control Board is authorizing a couple of decreases in outflow from the Normal Dam.

The first is today and there will be another one on Monday.

The Control Board recently held it’s spring regulation meeting and says because of a below normal snowpack, especially at the south end of the lake, they want to maintain storage in the drainage basin in case dry conditions continue.

The decrease in outflow means the level on the Winnipeg River below that dam will decline about 5 centimeters each time.

The Control Board says the water level on the lake has dropped a couple of centimeters this past week, but is not supposed to change over the next seven days.
