People pay respects as Brian Mulroney lies in state

Hundreds have been lining up to say good-bye as Brian Mulroney lies in state in Ottawa.

Canada’s 18th prime minister died February 29th at age 84.

Wednesday, March 20th would have been Mulroney’s 85th birthday.

Governor General Mary Simon and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were among the first to pay their respects to the Mulroney family Tuesday.

The casket will be moved to St. Patrick’s Basilica in Montreal Wednesday afternoon to lie in repose.

Mulroney’s state funeral is set for Saturday, with eulogies from his daughter Caroline, former Quebec premier Jean Charest, and hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
