Two health providers in the region win awards

The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada has singled out the work of a couple of health care providers in this region.

Janine Moloney has received a Rural Health Champion Award.

She currently works as a physician assistant in the Emergency Room at Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

The other award went to a Dryden doctor.

Dr. Stephen Viherjoki has received a Fellowship of Rural and Remote Medicine.

The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada says it believes in recognizing individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to rural medicine in Canada.

The awards were handed out at the 31st Annual Rural and Remote Medicine Conference in Edmonton last month.
