NWHU warns of probable measles exposure in Sioux Lookout

The Northwestern Health Unit is warning of a probable measle exposure in the Sioux Lookout area.

It involved an infant.

The Health Unit says a probable exposure takes place when a person displays signs of a measles exposure and traveled to an area with known measles spread.

Measles is an airborne illness, and can be spread by a person that has an infection.

The NWHU says it’s highly contagious and spread easily to others through coughs, speech, or sneezes.

If you were at these locations there is a possible exposure:

Early ON Centre at Sioux Mountain School-89 1st Ave N, May 27, 2024 at 10am to May 29, 2024 at 5 pm

Fresh Market-79 Queen Street, Sioux Lookout on May 27, 2024 from 10am until 2pm

Giant Tiger-12 Fifth Ave, Sioux Lookout, on May 28, 2024 from 11am until 4pm

Remedy’s Pharmacy-75 King St, Sioux Lookout, on May 28,2024 from 11am until 4pm

Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre Emergency Department-1 Meno Ya Win Way, Sioux Lookout, May 29, 2024 at 5pm until May 30, 2024 at 2:30 am

The Health Unit says it will be conducting a measles vaccination clinic today in Sioux Lookout starting at 10:15.
