Person injured in bear attack

One person is recovering after being attacked by a bear.

The attack took place inside a camp in a remote area of Wabakimi Provincial Park Tuesday morning.

OPP say the animal was gone by the time emergency crews arrived on scene.

The person was transported to hospital with what is described as non-life threatening injuries.

OPP are using the incident to remind residents to use extreme caution when encountering bears and other wildlife.

In non-emergency situations, call the toll-free Bear Wise reporting line at 1-866-514-2327

The line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from April 1 to November 30.
