OPSEU members at LCBO on strike

LCBO outlets across the province are closed today.

Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union went on strike as of midnight.

OPSEU says talks broke down yesterday putting them in a legal strike position.

The union represents more than 9 thousand workers.

The LCBO says all of its stores will be closed today and for the next 14 days and some stores will have limited hours of operation three days a week as of July 19th.

OPSEU says “throughout negotiations the union has proposed an alternative plan to Ford’s alcohol everywhere scheme and made it clear to Ford and the LCBO that we’re ready to strike for it.”
