Dryden sees high and lows in 2nd quarter report

The City of Dryden is holding its own when it comes to finances.

The first quarter report was release at the open council meeting on Monday.

Treasurer Steven Lansdell-Roll says the one trouble spot is the Dryden Airport.

“Our user fee revenue is slightly underbudgeted, approximately $127,000, this primarily relates to airport landing fees”, Lansdell-Roll reported to city council earlier this week.

“The low fire season we’re seeing to date, it’s a good thing for our forests, but not such a good thing for our airport revenues.”

Lansdell-Roll says the number of vacancies in the city is generally a negative thing, but it is saving money.

In the second quarter, he says their employee expenses dropped by $540,000 dollars, with vacancies early on in the year in the public works department. He adds they have yet to fill their junior planner position.
