Canada secures first Olympic medal in Paris

A huge moment at the Paris Olympic Games for Canada.

It was a thrilling race to the finish when Summer McIntosh nailed a silver medal in the 400-meter freestyle.

The 17-year-old from Toronto finished with a time of 3:58:37.

Australia’s Ariarne Titmus defended her gold medal from Tokyo, with a time of 3:58.37 and bronze went to Katie Ledecky of the United States with 4:00.86.

This is the first medal won for a Canadian at the Games so far as well as for McIntosh who placed fourth in the 400-meter freestyle in Tokyo at the age of 14.
