A clean-energy deal with Germany.
Ottawa committing $300 million for a hydrogen trade with the foreign country.
Energy minister Jonathan Wilkinson made the announcement in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia.
“It will lead to good, sustainable jobs for working people in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, enhanced energy security for our allies, and lower emissions for both sides of the Atlantic,” said Wilkinson.
The money will be awarded through an auction later this year.
It will help Canadian companies access German markets for clean hydrogen and ammonia, and give Germans good prices on clean energy.
Wilkinson says they’re choosing to be a global leader in clean energy.
“By recognizing where the world is heading and aggressively pursuing major areas of economic opportunity. That is the choice that this government and our German allies have made.”
He called it an historic announcement, and a win-win for both countries.
