Community Foundation encouraging grant applications

The deadline is fast approaching to apply for a grant from the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation.

Lynn McAughey is the executive director and says any charity or community organization can apply.

“Fill out a grant application on behalf of a charitable organization and this year we challenge you to think big,” says McAughey.

“We have $500,000 to give away in our community needs and the Moffatt Foundation grants and in our Dream Fund grants. So please, think about the projects you can do in your organization.”

McAughey says they’ll look at charitable organizations that have needs both big and small.

“I mean we grant small amounts of money to small organizations if that is their need, and we do some fairly substantial grants to larger organizations. Think long term too. Sometimes we have a three-year project, sometimes we have a six-month project.”

McAughey says September 18th is the final day to submit an application.
