Two N.B. men face charges after fleeing police in Ontario

Two New Brunswick men face a long list of charges after fleeing from police in Ontario.

At about 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening, the OPP got a call about a crash on Highway 17 in Dryden, Ontario.

One of the drivers fled the scene, and when police tried to stop the vehicle, they driver kept going.

Officers later spotted the car on Highway 105 and blew the tires with a spike belt.

The driver was arrested but the passenger tried to flee and police arrested him a short time later.

Two men from Saint John New Brunswick, aged 29 and 37, face several charges.

The 37-year-old is facing charges for:

  • fleeing from police
  • dangerous driving
  • obstructing an officer
  • impaired driving
  • possessing property obtained by crime worth over $5,000
  • failing to comply with a demand
  • resisting an officer
  • possessing a “prohibited device or ammunition” for a dangerous purpose
  • multiple other HTA and provincial offence charges

The 29-year-old faces charges of:

  • possessing a “prohibited device or ammunition” for a dangerous purpose
  • possessing property obtained by crime worth over $5,000
  • obstructing an officer

Both were held in custody and appeared in court in Thunder Bay.

The investigation continues.
