Canada’s Ellie Black nominated for Paris 2024 Fair Play Award

Nova Scotia’s Ellie Black is up for an Olympic honour.

The Halifax gymnast is one of five athletes nominated for a Paris 2024 Fair Play Award.

Black is the only Canadian nominee.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the award is for extraordinary acts of sporting spirit during the games.

The four-time Olympian is known for her generosity and support of all gymnasts, regardless of team.

These are the nominees:

  • Canadian gymnast Ellie Black
  • World rowing president, Jean-Christophe Rolland and the singles skulls Group A final competitors and coaches
  • Olaf Tabor, Chef de Mission of Team Germany
  • Hungarian fencer, Csanad Gemesi
  • Cyclists Fariba Hashimi (AFG) and Hanna Tserakh (AIN)
