Habitat for Humanity announces new Kenora build in 2025

Kenora is getting ready for its 4th Habitat for Humanity build.

It will take place next year, but the search for a suitable family is starting next month.

Dave Cain from the Kenora Habitat committee says they will be holding a meeting next month to explain eligibility and gauge the level of interest.

“We’re looking for families to apply for the house,” explains Cain.

“We’re having a presentation on the 25th of September. So those families can sit down and get all the information what the requirements are to be a family to apply for the house.”

Cain says there is a long list of eligibility requirements for the Habitat family, including income, employment, and they can’t have owned a home before.

“There are a lot of requirements. There is sweat equity. When the family is chosen, they have put in 500 hours of sweat equity. But there are stipulations on the families as far as the maximum income they can have. From the time of application, they have to have had a full-time job for the past two years.”

Cain says the next Habitat build will be on 4th Street North, right next to their most recent home.
