OPP honours northwestern Ontario resident posthumously

A resident of the region has been posthumously recognized for bravery by the provincial police.

Allan McInnes from Sioux Lookout has been awarded the Commissioner’s Citation for Bravery.

Back on February 4th, 2023, a fire was reported at a senior’s home in Sioux Lookout.

“McInnes unhesitatingly assisted police and emergency service personnel to clear the building, removing several residents from the burning complex,” said the OPP in a release. “Thanks to his brave actions, all of the tenants of the building exited safely.”

His daughter Caitlyn McInnes was presented the award on her father’s behalf.
