Two new fires break out in Northwest region

Two new wildfires have started in the Northwest Region.

The first is located about 19.5 kilometres northwest of Nakina, near Highway 643. It covers 0.1 hectares and is under control.

The second, which spans 0.5 hectares, is roughly 1.2 kilometres east of Dominion Lake Road and remains out of control.

Currently, there are 25 active fires in the region. Of these, one is out of control, two are under control, and 22 are being monitored.

Three fires were also extinguished in the past 24 hours.

The wildfire risk remains moderate to high across most of the Northwest Region, with lower risk along the southeast border.
