Restrictions lifted at Lake of the Woods hospital after COVID outbreak

Visiting hours have returned to normal after a COVID-19 outbreak at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora.

On Sept. 20, the hospital declared there was an outbreak in the 3 East unit, which includes the intensive care unit (ICU) and the medical-surgical unit, where patients prepare for or recover from surgeries.

But the hospital and the Northwestern Health Unit said the outbreak was over on Thursday.

Two visitors at a time can now enter between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. every day.

Although the mask requirement is lifted, the hospital will still offer them on site to anyone who wants to prevent respiratory illnesses from spreading.
