Second Liberal MP publicly calls for PM Trudeau’s resignation

A Liberal MP has called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down as leader, joining growing internal discussions about the party’s future direction.

Charlottetown MP Sean Casey said Trudeau’s leadership has become a significant concern among voters in his riding, with many urging him to resign.

His comments come after New Brunswick MP Wayne Long became the first to openly call for Trudeau’s resignation, following the party’s loss in the Toronto-St. Paul’s byelection.

Casey noted that he has not attended the internal meetings discussing Trudeau’s leadership but expects the efforts to oust him could gain momentum when MPs return to Ottawa.

Casey said that while he supports a leadership change, he still plans to run in the next federal election, regardless of whether Trudeau remains at the helm, citing his determination to oppose Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
