A major fundraiser for the hospital in Sioux Lookout this weekend.

The 13th annual Home Hardware Skip to Equip Ladies Curling Bonspiel is taking place.

Kelli Baker is chair of the event and says they are going after a major milestone.

“The goal this year is to reach over a $1 million over the 13 years of fundraising,” says Baker.

“Our event theme this year is If We Had a Million Dollars. We are currently shy of just over $90,000.”

Baker adds that any funds raised will go towards the purchase of new medical equipment at the Meno-Ya-Win Health Center.

“Over the 13 years, we’ve supported our local Meno-Ya-Win Health Center Foundation. We’ve been able to aid in many of the equipment pieces. So, we’ve done diagnostic imaging, mammography, hematology, and many other great opportunities we’ve raised funds for.”

Curling will begin at 5:00 Friday evening and wraps up on Sunday afternoon.
