Muskies take two of four NorWOSSA court sport championships

The Fort Frances Muskies claimed two of four gold medals up for grabs at the NorWOSSA AA finals on Friday.

The Muskies won the semifinal in junior boys’ volleyball, then beat the top-seeded Beaver Brae Broncos in the gold medal game.

In the senior boy’s final, the Muskies once again took the semifinal to advance to the gold medal game against the Broncos.

Beaver Brae won the first two games, but the Muskies won the next two, and the Broncos won the fifth and deciding set 15-12 to win gold.

In girls’ basketball, the Sioux North Warriors took down the Muskies 32-25, to claim the NorWOSSA championship.

In senior girls’ action, Fort Frances, the number one seed, topped the Dryden Eagles 46-30 to claim gold.

Both the Beaver Brae senior boys’ volleyball team and the Muskie senior girls’ basketball team advance to the NWOSSA championship against teams from Thunder Bay.
