Two youth awarded by Sail Manitoba

Two youth from the Black Sturgeon Sailing Club were awarded at the Sail Manitoba awards ceremony.

Liam Cox won the Youth Elite Award for his outstanding achievements in youth competitions

Cox was the province’s top male Opti sailor in 2023 and qualified for and competed in the Manitoba Games in a Laser.

Quinn Haines was awarded the Charles Fleming Memorial Award, presented to the best 19 and under male sailor in the province.

In 2024, Haines had several top three finishes and qualified for the Canada Games to be held in St. John’s, Newfoundland in August of 2025.

These two Kenora athletes also teamed up this past spring to sail a 420 sailboat and won the Winnipeg High School Sailing Championship.
