Kenora city council defers budget

Kenora city council has decided to defer passing the 2025 budget.

Mayor Andrew Poirier says they are still waiting on a couple of key pieces of information.

That being the budgets of the Kenora District Services Board and the Kenora District Homes for the Aged.

Both of those budgets aren’t expected to be passed until January.

Council also wants to find out if they can dip into the KMTS Citizens Prosperity Trust Fund to offset the property tax increase, which is being proposed at 9.24 percent.
