FAO cites infrastructure deficit at Ontario schools

Nearly 40 percent of schools in Ontario need some sort of repairs.

The report shows that 37.4 percent of schools in the province are below a good state of repair

That represents over 1,700 schools and the FAO says 32 of those should be replaced.

It adds that the cost of bringing those facilities up to a good state of repair is $6.5 billion.

The FAO estimates the cost of the infrastructure deficit, which includes building new schools is over $31 billion over 10 years.

The Ford government has set aside $18.7 billion over 10 years to do the work.
