Hunter fined for illegally killing moose and a deer

A Dinorwic hunter faces fines of illegally killed a moose and deer not one, not two, not three but five times.

Richard Kanceruk has been fined $6,500 has his hunting license suspended for five years and has received an 18-month probation order.

It all stems from a tip back in October of 2023 about a shot and abandoned moose.

During their investigation conservation officers determined he had shot a cow moose a couple days previous without a license.

A day earlier he also shot a deer with a high-powered rifle while standing on the running boards of his pick-up truck and failed to invalidate the tag.

The MNR also says on two other occasions in 2021 and 2022 he illegally hunted bull moose without a license.
