Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police selects new president for the region

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) has a new president for northwestern Ontario.

Thunder Bay’s Chief of Police, Darcey Fleury has been selected as the 2025 president for Zone 1.

“As President of OCAP Zone One, Chief Fleury will play a key role in shaping regional policing priorities and fostering collaboration across the province,” said the Thunder Bay Police Service Board Chair, Karen Machado. “His leadership will continue to strengthen the important work being done to ensure the safety and well-being of all communities, including Indigenous and diverse communities. The Board is confident that as President of OCAP Zone One, Chief Fleury will continue to make a positive impact across Thunder Bay and their entire province of Ontario.”

Zone 1 encompasses police services in:

  • Atikokan
  • Dryden
  • Fort Frances (Provincial police location)
  • Lac Seu (Provincial police location)
  • Marathon (Provincial police location)
  • Nishnawbe-Aski (Indigenous police service)
  • Ontario Provincial Police – North West Region
  • Red Rock (Provincial police location)
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police
  • Terrace Bay (Provincial police location)
  • Thunder Bay

OACP is an organization representing the province’s chiefs of police.

They work on advocacy and policy development to support the delivery of effective and efficient policing in Ontario.
