Donald Trump will take over as president Monday

It’s inauguration day for incoming U.S. president Donald Trump.

Many Canadians are waiting to see if Trump follows through on his tariff threats.

He previously said he would put 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian and Mexican exports,

if the two countries did not crack down on drugs and migrants coming across the border.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and all but one of the country’s premiers are working on a plan to retaliate if he does. Alberta’s Danielle Smith opted out of the strategy, saying she didn’t want to put retaliatory tariffs on the province’s energy exports.

Trump will officially take charge of the oval office around 1 p.m. Monday.
