Premier Doug Ford will trigger an election on Wednesday.
Ford let the cat out of the bag during an announcement in Brampton.
It means an election will be held on February 27.
Ontario has fixed election dates with the next not scheduled until 2026, but Ford’s majority government opted to go to the polls sooner.
Ford has been open about wanting a new mandate to deal with U.S. President Donald Trump as he continues to threaten applying taxes on goods coming from Canada.
