Increase seen in certain illnesses in Sioux Lookout

The Meno Ya Win Health Center in Sioux Lookout say it’s seen an increase recently in respiratory and gastro-intestinal symptoms.

It’s encouraging patients not to necessarily use the emergency room to seek help.

It says the ER is for emergencies, and if your symptoms are not serious, there are virtual care options.

You can visit www.nwvirtualcare.ca or call 1-888-684-1999.

These services are available 12-8 PM, 7 days a week

But the Health Center adds not to ignore these symptoms or avoid emergency care when needed.

It also recommends staying home and don’t visit long term care homes or the hospital if you are ill.
