OPP arrest a suspect in Sioux Lookout robbery

The Sioux Lookout OPP have arrested a suspect in connection to a robbery.

Police were called out Friday evening around 7:00 to a grocery store on Queen Street to a report of a stick-up.

Upon arrival, officers located a suspect nearby.

During their interaction, the OPP dispatched an ARWEN or anti-riot weapon and took the suspect into custody.

The 29 year old Sioux Lookout man has been charged with robbery with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He appeared in Sioux Lookout court on Saturday for a bail hearing.

Because the ARWEN is considered a firearm, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit is now looking into the incident.

Three investigators have been assigned to the case.
At this time, one subject official, six witnesses and one civilian employee have been designated.
While the man did not sustain a serious injury, the SIU’s mandate was invoked.
