Mamakwa takes the Kiiwetinoong Riding

A good night for incumbent MPP’s in the northwest.

All four won their ridings, including Sol Mamakwa of the NDP in the Kiiwetinoog Riding.

He claimed about 61 percent of the votes cast and led by 1,762 votes.

His closest rival was Waylon Scott of the Conservatives with about 27 percent.

Manuela Michelizzi from the Liberals was next, followed by Carolyn Spicer of the Green Party and Theresa Leppich from the Northern Ontario Party.

The results are based on 88.24 percent of the votes counted, or 45 of 51 polls reporting.

Mamakwa was the deputy leader of the NDP in the Ontario Legislature when the election was called.
