TWN says cool start to spring, warming up for May

What can we expect for the spring season? The Weather Network is out with its spring forecast.

Meteorologists are recommending that you don’t put away the jackets in Ontario.

“Normal for spring sees huge swings the first of March. Generally, our high is plus one, and then by the end of May, we’re sitting at a high of about 21, almost 22 degrees. So it’s a season where we see big swings through the end of March and early April this year,” says Meteorologist Nicole Karkic.

She adds that winter is going to test our patience with cold shots of air at times.

“With the situation we’re in right now, and a good healthy snow pack, we’re going to see a slower than normal melt. That’s good news for spring skiing, but what we are seeing pattern-wise is an active storm track,” Karkic says.

Areas could see above normal snow or potentially rain in April.

Temperatures are expected to trend to the warm side of seasonal during May for Ontario.

Spring officially arrives on Thursday, March 20, at 5:01 a.m. EDT
