SIJHL playoffs begin over the weekend

The Kam River Fighting Walleye have taken a 2-nothing lead in their first-round playoff series against the Ironwood Lumberjacks

The Walleye won both games at home this weekend by scores of 5-1 and 6-2.

The other two series are tied at one game apiece.

The Red Lake Miners evened the series with the Sioux Lookout Bombers with a 2-1 victory on Saturday night after losing 5-2 Friday night.

The Thunder Bay North Stars tied their series with the Fort Frances Lakers with a 4-1 victory Saturday.

The Lakers won game one 4-3 in overtime Friday night.

All series resume on Tuesday as the series shift locales.
