Health Unit reports increase in drug overdoses

The Northwestern Health Unit is warning about the danger of some of the drugs circulating in the Kenora and Sioux Lookout areas.

There have been a number of overdoses and according to the Kenora Chiefs Advisory, at least one fatality.

While the substance responsible for the overdoses hasn’t been identified, the fact the naloxone can be used, suggests that opioids may be involved.

It’s also unclear which drugs the substance is being sold as, or mixed with, but a number of different methods have been reported.

While the reports come from Kenora, there are recent reports in Sioux Lookout that opioids are being mixed with non-opioid drugs.
