Sioux Lookout launches curbside compost pilot

A pilot composting project has been launched in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout.

Starting this month, as many as 50 homes, on a first come, first serve basis, will be eligible to take part.

A curbside pickup of the compost will take place every Tuesday.

The first month will be free of charge, but it will be $25 for each month afterwards.

All residential organic waste will be accepted, including food scraps, bones, dairy, non-gloss paper, tea bags, plant trimmings, and “HOME” certified compostable bags and products.

Sioux Lookout is teaming up with Rock Front Family Farm on the initiative.

There are also two free drop off locations at 5 Mile Fuels and Convenience and Rock Front Family Farm on Queen Street.
