Michael Kakeeway – a resident of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Charleswood Care Home, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

He was predeceased by his parents Austin Kakeeway and Winnifred Redsky, his siblings Barbara, Douglas, Alex, Clarence, Jeannie and George. He was also predeceased by his niece Rose Paypom and nephew Casey Paypom Sr.

He is survived by his nieces Ruth Paypom, Rosalind Paypom, Shannon Miault, Michelle Miault, Linda Miault, nephews Allan Paypom and Nathan Miault, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews and many others too numerous to mention.

He was a residential school survivor, he enjoyed travelling, he also enjoyed working and moving from town to town. He was always laughing, smiling and joking around. He enjoyed driving around in the car listening to music, he would always assist family during any cultural event, harvesting rice. He was polite, intelligent and spoke eloquently.

A wake service for will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 3:00pm at Washagamis Bay Band Office, Washagamis Bay, Ontario. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 10:00am at Washagamis Bay Band Office with interment to follow.
