NOMA conference opens today in Thunder Bay

Municipal leaders from across northwestern Ontario are meeting this week in Thunder Bay.

The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association conference starts today and wraps up Friday afternoon at the Superior Inn Hotel and Conference Center.

Today delegates heard from the three provincial opposition leaders.

That included Marit Stiles of the NDP, Mike Schreiner of the Green Party and Bonnie Crombie from the Liberals.

Also on the agenda is an update on the Stong Mayor Powers, which many mayors in the region will be given starting May 1st.

The provincial government is also sending 10 cabinet ministers to NOMA to take part in the Bear Pit session on Friday.
